Powershop win most satisfied customers award for electricity providers

2011 Award for Electricity ProvidersPricey electricity costs are turning New Zealanders towards the biggest battery in the universe – the sun.

Two in every five respondents to our latest survey say that soaring electricity costs have caused them to consider installing a solar power system in their home.

Men are also more likely to consider switching to solar power than women.

The costs of buying solar panels and having them installed can quickly climb into the thousands of dollars – but savings can be substantial over the long term.

Our survey also revealed that Powershop have powered on to five star victory and have won our most satisfied customers award for electricity providers.

Powershop performed exceptionally well, with five star ratings for every criteria – price, service, billing and overall satisfaction.

Other electricity providers included in our survey were Energy Online, Trust Power, Genesis Energy, Mercury Energy, Meridian Energy, Empower, Nova Energy and Contact Energy.

Our survey also shows that some New Zealanders are happy to pay a little extra if it means saving the planet, with more than one in ten revealing they pay extra for the ‘green option’ on their bill to reduce their carbon footprint.

Aucklanders were even more environmentally conscientious with 17% saying they’d put forward extra cash to take a green option over standard electricity.

Canstar Blue commissions Colmar Brunton Australia to survey 2,500 New Zealand consumers across a range of categories every few months to measure and track customer satisfaction. The outcomes reported are the results from customers of electricity providers within the survey group. To qualify, the customer must have an active electricity account in their name and pay the bills.

Results are comparative and it should be noted that brands that received three stars have still achieved a satisfaction measure of at least six out of 10.
