Slingshot Mobile Review

Slingshot has been a player in the NZ broadband market since 2001. It’s now owned by Vocus, the same company that owns Orcon and Stuff Fibre. Read on to hear about their mobile plan offerings.

Slingshot Mobile is a mobile provider primarily known as a broadband company and a power provider. As of 2009, they started providing mobile services as well. Their mobile plans are set up to be bundled with power and internet, making it easy to pay all your bills in one spot.

Instead of having sets of pay monthly and prepaid phone plans, they only offer mobile services to those who have signed up to their internet service.

How to switch to a Slingshot plan

Slingshot is good for those who want to sign up for the internet and mobile at the same time, at an affordable rate. Slingshot deducts $5 from your internet bill per month for each mobile plan you have signed up. Just buy a new SIM and transfer your number online with Slingshot. It’s a pretty straightforward process.

Can I buy additional data and minutes?

You can purchase 1GB of additional data for $12 and 50 additional minutes of NZ/OZ talk for $7 in My Slingshot Mobile. These add-ons do not roll over and will expire after 30 days if unused.

What about roaming overseas?

Global roaming is enabled by default, you just need to purchase a roaming pack in My Slingshot Mobile. For information on casual roaming rates, take a look at their mobile rates page.
