Netflix to Neon: Top Streaming Shows in NZ

Looking for something to watch across Netflix, Neon and all NZ streaming TV platforms? Check out the top streaming shows and films with Canstar Blue.

Streaming TV services have taken over. Where once Netflix stood alone, countless more have joined. Apple TV+, Disney+, Neon, Prime Video, and even TVNZ+ have all become strong competitors, fighting for a share of our streaming revenue. And while more competition has secured higher budget shows and better quality viewing, the choice can, at times, be overwhelming. Sometimes it can feel like your most-watched show is, well, your streaming provider’s home screen!

So to help make your viewing life easier, Canstar has joined up with JustWatch, to bring you a regular round-up of the top streaming TV shows and films currently playing in lounge rooms across the country.

Read on to see which movies and shows Kiwis have been watching recently:

Market share remained pretty steady over last year, with both Prime and Disney+ securing their positions in the market to rival Netflix’s dominance. Certainly, viewers are quite happy to quit their subscriptions and to wait to join up again once the new season of their favourite show returns to stream.

As suggested by the peaks and troughs in the market shares of the paid streaming platforms over last year, it appears Kiwi viewers are happy to cancel their subscriptions if their viewing habits change, only to resubscribe later.
