Harrisons Curtains & Blinds: The Best in Home Furnishings

Curtains, cushions, blinds and throws – they are the little touches that help make a house a family home. They’re the little extras that combine to have a big impact on how you enjoy your home and how it’s perceived by visitors.

Over the past couple of years, we’ve all had to spend more time at home. And consequently, we’ve all become more aware of the living spaces around us.

Indeed, in Canstar Blue’s latest research, over a third of Kiwis (34%) admit that the extra time they’ve spent at home during the pandemic has led them to put more time and effort into their home’s interior styling.

And while a quarter of us (26%) are taking design inspiration from social media, practical considerations are also a concern. Pets and children are a big influence for a further 26% when choosing home furnishings: think tough and easy to clean!

But regardless of styling choices, one home furnishing trend is clear: the search for quality: just 32% of respondents prefer cheap and cheerful over quality furnishings and, when it comes to consumer satisfaction, a product’s quality is by far the most important factor.

But which home furnishing store delivers the best quality, value for money and customer service? As part of our mission to inform consumers of the best NZ has to offer, this year Canstar Blue canvassed the opinions of 1250 New Zealanders who had purchased and installed soft furnishings in their home in the past 12 months, across a range of categories, to measure and track their satisfaction.

To decide which home furnishing store offers the best level of customer satisfaction, each was rated across the following categories:

  • Overall Satisfaction
  • Customer Service
  • Layout of Store/Website
  • Product Availability
  • Quality of Installed Product
  • Range of Products on Offer
  • Value for Money

Coming out on top is Harrisons Curtains & Blinds, the clear winner of Canstar Blue’s award for Most Satisfied Customers | Home Furnishings.

In this year’s award, Harrisons Curtains & Blinds is the only retailer to earn our prestigious 5-Star ranking for Overall Satisfaction. It’s an achievement based on a strong performance across the board: 5-Star ratings in all but two categories: Value for Money and Product Availability, for which it earns admirable 4-Star ratings.

Also rated highly in this year’s award are Curtain Studio and Harvey Furnishings – each earning 4-Star Overall Satisfaction ratings.

What Kiwis Want From Their Home Furnishings

While value for money is always a consideration – 19% of those in our survey say it’s the biggest driver of their customer satisfaction – when it comes to home furnishings, quality is cited by close to a quarter of consumers (23%) as the most important factor.

Understandably, if you spend money on well-made curtains, blinds or new soft furnishings, you expect them to deliver seasons of stylish service in your home.

In this year’s ratings, Harrisons Curtains & Blinds is the only retailer to score a 5-Star ratings for quality. Whereas, cheap and cheerful store The Warehouse delivers the only 5-Star rating for Value for Money, but only a 3-Star rating for quality.

Overall, the main drivers of satisfaction are:
