One NZ Mobile Review

One NZ is a leading telco company that offers mobile and broadband services. One NZ is owned by the NZ-based infrastructure investment company Infratil.

What phone plans does One NZ offer?

Prepaid

One NZ’s MyFlex prepay plans allow you to customise your text, minutes, and data allocations. The plans below are default suggestions, provided by One NZ, but they can all be customised to better suit your needs. However, note that changing the mix of text/talk and data can alter pricing.

For example, reducing the text allowance on the $16 plan to 100 texts while increasing the data allowance to 1.25GB changes the price to $18.

Prepay (four-weekly)

$16 Plan:

  • Features: 100 Rollover Minutes & Unlimited Texts to NZ & OZ – 1GB Rollover Data
  • Extras: Data Up (up to 100% free data if your plan renews regularly)

$21 Plan:

  • Features: 200 Rollover Minutes & Unlimited Texts to NZ & OZ – 1.5GB Rollover Data
  • Extras: Data Up

$31 Plan:

  • Features: 300 Rollover Minutes & Unlimited Texts to NZ & OZ – 3GB Rollover Data
  • Extras: Data Up

$41 Plan:

  • Features: 100 Rollover Minutes & 100 Texts to NZ & OZ – 8GB Rollover Data
  • Extras: Data Up

Pay monthly

One NZ keeps it simple, with four mobile plans, two of which are eligible to be teamed up with companion plans for a considerable discount:

$30 Plan: 4GB Data

  • Features: Unlimited calls & texts to NZ & OZ.

$50 Plan: Endless Data Capped Max Speed 6GB

  • Features: Unlimited calls & texts to NZ & OZ.

$70 Plan: Endless Data Capped Max Speed 50GB

  • Features: Unlimited calls & texts to NZ & OZ plus 250mins & 50 texts to 20 international destinations. Add up to three companion plans for $35p/m per plan.

$85 Plan: Endless Data No Max Speed Cap

  • Features: Unlimited calls & texts to NZ & OZ plus 250mins & 50 texts to 20 international destinations. Add up to three companion plans for $40p/m per plan.

All One NZ plans offer hotspotting, fee voicemail, One NZ rewards and are 5G ready.

Do One NZ’s phone plans offer value for money?

One NZ is not a no-frills provider like Skinny, and its prepaid phone plans are in line with those from Spark and 2degrees, and come with the offer of rewards and daily deals, etc. The fact you can mix and match your data/call/text requirements is a good feature that allows you to fit your prepaid plan to your phone habits to ensure you’re only paying for what you need.

One NZ’s monthly plans sit mid-table when it comes to their pricing and the cost of adding companion plans, and the max data caps on its lower priced plans do appear a bit stingy. But the two more expensive plans do come with the distinction of offering texts and over four hours of voice calls per month to a wide range of international destinations.

Prices correct as of 27/06/2025.
