You’ve decided to get away to somewhere nice and warm, but you need the cheapest flight possible, or the best package deal around. So where do you go for quality travel bookings?
Canstar Blue has awarded Harvey World Travel our most satisfied customers award for travel bookings, in our recent survey.
Harvey World Travel received a five star rating for price, service, range of other items for sale, and accuracy of bookings.
Interestingly, the two travel agencies that customers were most satisfied with both operate out of shop fronts where customers can talk face to face with travel experts.
The House of Travel shopfront came a close second to Harvey World Travel, and received four stars for overall satisfaction.
But what do travellers do when they arrive at their destination? According to our survey, two thirds of surveyed consumers choose to put their feet up and relax rather than seek out adventure.
Our survey also reveals that almost one in five people would travel to a country their government warned was unsafe, although they are ready for trouble, with one in three buying travellers insurance on their last holiday. Residents of Christchurch take their travellers insurance even more seriously, with 84% of those surveyed purchasing insurance before their last holiday.
Canstar Blue commissions Colmar Brunton Australia to survey 2,500 New Zealand consumers across a range of categories every few months to measure and track customer satisfaction. The outcomes reported are the results from customers of travel booking agencies and websites within the survey group. To qualify, the customer has to have completed a travel booking within the last 12 months.
Results are comparative and it should be noted that brands that received three stars have still achieved a satisfaction measure of at least six out of 10.
Overall satisfaction
Overall, customers who spoke of Harvey World Travel were the most satisfied with their travel booking service. Harvey World Travel received five stars for customer satisfaction while House of Travel (shopfront) came a close second in this category, receiving four stars overall. Flight Centre (both online and shopfront), Webjet and House of Travel (online) received three stars for overall satisfaction.
Price
Both Webjet and Harvey World Travel customers were the most satisfied when it came to pricing, while House of Travel (shopfront), and Flight Centre (online and shopfront) received four stars, and House of Travel (online) received three stars.
Service
You can expect five star service from the staff at House of Travel and Harvey World Travel according to our survey. Both received five stars for service, while Flight Centre (shopfront) and Webjet each received four stars. Flight Centre (online) and House of Travel (online) received three stars.
Range of other items for sale
It’s not just flights you can buy at travel booking agencies. Accommodation, car rental, theme park passes, travel insurance and more are available to customers looking for a full travel experience. Harvey World Travel and House of Travel (shopfront) both received five stars for range of other items for sale. Flight Centre (online) and Webjet received four stars in this category, and House of Travel (online) and Flight Centre (shopfront) received three stars each.
Knowledge of staff
When you make a booking, you hope your travel agent will know the difference between Myanmar and Miami. House of Travel (shopfront) received five stars for knowledge of staff, while Harvey World Travel, Webjet, House of Travel (online) and Flight Centre (both online and shopfront) all received four stars.
Advice and accuracy of bookings
Bookings that go wrong can lead to some very strange places. So when in doubt, aim for one of our five star winners for advice and accuracy of bookings. Harvey World Travel received five stars, four stars went to House of Travel (shopfront), and Flight Centre (online and shopfront), Webjet and House of Travel (online) all received three stars.
